CREATING & PRINTING ALTERNATES & CHANGE ORDERS

Creating Alternates & Change Orders

1. In the 'Breakout Box', on the right side you will see in brackets (ALT/CO). Point the mouse
on the word 'ALT/CO', left click

2. A Breakout window appears. Select either 'Add Alt'., 'Ded Alt'. or 'Change Order'

     A. If you choose Add alternate, all the inputs that you make stay separate from the base bid estimate and are
          not
included into the totals. Does not allow any item total to be negative. See ACES Logic below.

     B. If you choose Deduct alternate, all the inputs that you make get included in the base bid estimate, but will
show separately from the other systems with the alternate title at the top of the page. Does not allow any
item total to be negative. See ACES Logic below.

     C. If you choose 'Change Order, all the inputs that you make stay separate from the estimate and are not
included into the totals. Allows negative totals for items. In fact this is the only area of ACES that allow
negative totals for items. See ACES Logic below.

3. After you choose what type of Alternate you are using or a Change Order, type in the name and click the ok
    button.

Printing Alternates & Change Orders

1. Clear out the 'System' and the 'Area' lines. On the 'System' line point your mouse anywhere on the line and left click. Then hit the backspace button on your keyboard. Do the same to the 'Area' line. All you should see is a white area with a cursor blinking in the system and area boxes.

2. On the Breakout line choose the alternate that you want to print.

3. Go to 'Reports', highlight 'Total by System', and then left Click 'Selection'.

4. The prompt 'Show Labor Diff' requires an answer (see Printing Options) clicking yes/no, then the report of the alternate is on the screen. Click the print icon to print.

ACES LOGIC -

I. Competitive bids will never have a negative total for any item in the bid.

II. Change Orders allow negative totals. This is to allow you to give back an
item that is included in your contract.
